CANADA · THE FOUNDER'S STORY
FROM TORONTO
TO OVIEDO.
A Canadian playing career. A Spanish football academy. One lifelong belief in the game.
THE TORONTO YEARS
A CAREER ROOTED IN CANADA.
1976–1979 · North American Soccer League
Before founding Oviedo City Soccer Academy, Oscar Albuquerque played professional soccer with Toronto Metros-Croatia and Toronto Blizzard. In his published story, he recalls being part of the Toronto Metros-Croatia side that won the 1976 Soccer Bowl.
Those years in the North American Soccer League are part of the experience behind the academy's connection to players from Canada and beyond. His journey eventually led to building a place for international players to train in Spain.
